GRAND CENTRAL RAILWAYS connects London to North Yorkshire and the Durham Coastline. Grand Central Railways was a privately owned, open access train operating company that became part of the Arriva group, which is owned by Deutsche Bahn in 2011.

Grand Central Railways trains provide a high speed rail service between Sunderland, Hartlepool, Eaglescliffe, Northallerton, Thirsk, York and London Kings Cross reaching parts of the country not catered for by other railway services.

On the Durham Coast route the key communities of Sunderland, Hartlepool, Eaglescliffe and Thirsk have direct trains to London for the first time in many years, as well as direct links to York and connectional opportunities beyond.

Grand Central Railway carriages offer clean comfortable and modern seating with improved leg and luggage room. Buffet and restaurant facilities are available to all passengers and all coaches equipped with free Wireless WiFi Internet.

Grand Central Railways first route was launched in December 2007 and linked London Kings Cross with York, Thirsk, Northallerton, Eaglescliffe, Hartlepool and Sunderland.

In May 2010, a new service calling at Bradford, Halifax, Brighouse, Wakefield, Pontefract and Doncaster linked West Yorkshire with London Kings Cross.

On 11 December 2011, Grand Central began calling at Mirfield on the West Riding route.
