About Southern Railway

Southern Railway is a train operating company currently owned by the Go-Ahead Group - a partnership between Govia and Keolis.

Southern Railway manage 156 stations, 120 of which have Secure Station accreditation. Southern's two principal London stations are London Victoria and London Bridge.

Southern Railway operate a fleet of around 300 new or refurbished trains seven days a week and up to 24 hours a day. Each weekday Southern provide 2,284 train services while on Saturdays they provide 2,076 and 1,242 on Sundays.

Last year, 164 million passenger journeys were made on the 414 miles of track on the Southern network. Every day on average, 446,500 passenger train journeys are made with Southern Railway.

Southern Railway Train Network

Southern Railway train network is one of the busiest in the country and they are always looking for ways to increase capacity. In December 2013, 130 new carriages were added to services into London Victoria on their Metro routes to provide 10-car trains that dramatically reduced overcrowding.

Southern Rail have also ordered an additional 40 carriages to be deployed on the remainder of the Southern network from 2014.
