Alfreton Station is situated in Derbyshire in the Midlands. The station, like many in the area was built around the coal mining industry, but as times have changed, the area is now more associated with light industry. Robert Watchorn, the United States Commisioner for Immigration in the early twentieth century is one of the most famous residents of the town that has an interesting and colourful history.
