Northern Rail has operated local services in the north of England since 2004

Northern Rail run a mix of commuter routes , rural routes, some longer distance services and some ‘parliamentary trains’ around Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, Northumberland, Teeside, Tyne and Wear and all parts of Yorkshire.
Northern Rails services also extend to the north Midland counties of Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Staffordshire. In total, Northern Rail call at over 500 Train stations making them the largest train operator in the UK, running over 2,500 services each weekday and providing safe, reliable and comfortable local trains across the North.
