Grand Central

Grand Central Railway run services linking Sunderland, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough and Stockton-on-Tees (at Eaglescliffe) and London Kings Cross.

Grand Central operates 125mph high speed trains (HST) on London services. Compared to previous services, all carriages offer improvement on the previous services.

Grand Central runs two named trains. The Zephyr departs from Sunderland on Monday to Friday mornings whilst the final northbound departure runs as The 21st Century Limited leaving from Kings Cross late afternoon. The naming is a homage to the American 20th Century Limited, now run as the Lake Shore Limited by Amtrak between New York and Chicago.
